WBJEE 2018 will be conducted in offline mode on 22 April 2018. This exam consists of multiple choice questions with a negative marking of 1/4 marks for every incorrect answer. The registered and eligible candidates will be able to participate in the exam. All the candidates who are preparing for WBJEE 2018 must check the eligibility criteria before applying to make sure that they are eligible. These criteria include age, nationality, academic qualification and domicile. If candidates are found to be ineligible, they will be disqualified. While all the candidates have to qualify 10+2 examination, domicile requirements are different for different types of institutes. Domicile requirements are also different for different categories of candidates. WBJEE eligibility criteria are given here.

WBJEE ELIGIBILITY CRITERIA

1. Nationality

All candidates should be citizens of India

2. Age criteria

Candidate should be 17 years old as on 31 December 2018. There is no upper age limit for B. Tech courses except Marine engineering for which candidates should be between 17 to 25 years of age.

3. Academic qualification

Candidate should have qualified 10+2 examination with physics, mathematics and chemistry/biology/biotechnology/computer science.

Marks required

  • General category candidates should have secured an aggregate of 45% marks in the above mentioned subjects.
  • Reserved category candidates should have secured an aggregate of 40% marks.
  • All candidates are required to have secured 30% marks in English.

5. Domicile requirement

Candidates should be residents of West Bengal for 10 years consecutively as on 31 December 2017 or parents of the candidates should be permanent residents of West Bengal with a permanent residential address.
Residential requirements are different for different types of institutes.

Following are the domicile requirements by different institutes for candidates from reserved and unreserved categories :

1. State aided universities of engineering/technology/pharmacy/architecture

General – No

Reserved – Yes

2. Government engineering and technology colleges

General – Yes

Reserved – Yes

3. Self financing institutions of engineering/technology/pharmacy/architecture

General – No

Reserved – Yes

Candidates must check the eligibility criteria before applying, if they are found to be ineligible even after result declaration, they will be disqualified.
