VIT Eligibility Criteria – VITEEE Entrance Exam Eligibility Criteria


VITEEE Exam is the University Exam conducted by Vellore Institute of University, the exam formerly is known by the name of VIT. Every year university releases the eligibility criteria details so the university this year will release the VIT eligibility criteria details (Age, Education, Year of Passing, No. of attempts) by November along with the information.

The Eligibility Criteria of VIT includes the details about qualifying exam, age criteria, marks needed to get pass, subjects and many other details. Candidates are required to read the eligibility details before filling the VIT application form as the candidates who fail to meet the criteria would not be allowed to sit in the examination.

The candidates who studied Maths, Physics, Chemistry, and Biology can apply for the B.Tech and BioTechnology and Bio-Engineering programmes. They can also go ahead with the specialization in Biomedical Engineering, in Computer Science and Engineering with Specialization in Bioinformatics.

1 Nationality Both Resident and Non-Resident of India are eligible.


For Foreign Candidates the Foreign National Application Form is provided.

2 Age The candidates whose date of birth is on or after 1 July 1997, can apply for VIT exam.
3 Qualification-Candidates in the VITEEE Examination must have passed 10+2 Exam through any State Board.


The candidates who have given any Pre University Examination.


The Candidates with High School Certificate from Cambridge University,  International Baccalaureate Diploma, Geneva.


The candidates with GCE from Cambridge/London/Sri Lanka at advanced ‘A’ Level.


Candidates with NIOS can apply.



4 Qualifying Marks and Subjects Candidates must have scored 60% and above in Maths/Biology, Chemistry, Physics in the 10+2 examination.


Candidates of reserved category  and the candidates from northeast must have scored 50% in the above-mentioned subjects

5 Year of Passing Candidates appearing in VIT 2019 either completed or shall be qualifying in 2019.

VIT Eligibility Criteria for NRIs and Foreign Students

  • Candidates studied in English Medium School.
  • For getting admission in any of the courses, it is mandatory to pass 10+2 with Physics, Chemistry and Maths/Biology.
  • Candidates must have scored 60% or above in the mentioned subjects.

Eligibility Criteria for Admission

Candidates who will qualify the VITEEE exam will be further shortlisted for counseling and admission process. The candidates will be called for the counseling process according to the VIT merit list for choosing the branch and campus. The University has two campuses one in Vellore and the other one in Chennai. Admission will be done only through VITEEE.
