Now, let us take a look at the SSC Stenographer Career Growth Path. Like every government job, there are two ways of getting promoted to higher ranks. The first path is by seniority. This means after spending a specific number of years in a specific post, you would automatically get promoted to a higher rank.

The other way is through Limited Departmental Competetive Exams (LDCEs). You would be allowed to write these exams after you have been selected in the service. You would get promoted faster if you clear LDCEs at every stage.

If you are recruited as Stenographer Grade D, you would first be promoted to Stenographer Grade C. Once you are promoted to SSC Stenographer C, or recruited directly as Stenographer Grade C, then you would be promoted to the following posts.

Stenographer Grade C(PA)—> Private Secretaries(PS)—> Principal Private Secretaries(PPS)—> Senior Principal Private Secretaries(Sr.PPS)—>Principal Staff Officer(PSO)
