Staff Selection Committee has conducted SSC JE Exam for the purpose of recruiting Junior Engineers in various government departments. The conditions for SSC JE eligibility are manifold including that of citizenship, age, and educational background. The national entrance exam is held in two stages – Paper-I and II. Eligible candidates are encouraged to apply online. But before you do that, candidates should check the eligibility criteria for SSC JE 2018 – 2019 first which we have provided through this article.

SSC JE Eligibility Criteria Complete Details

It is important for a candidate to check in advance whether or not he/she is eligible to take the SSC JE 2019 exam. Following are the criteria which need to be met:

1. Nationality – SSC JE Eligibility

A candidate must be either one of the following-

  • Citizen of India
  • Subject to Nepal
  • Subject to Bhutan
  • Tibetan refugee came to India before 1st January 1962 to become a permanent resident.
  • A person of Indian origin migrated from Burma, East African countries of Kenya, the United Republic of Tanzania, Malawi, Ethiopia, Sri Lanka, Uganda, Zambia, Zaire and Vietnam to become a permanent resident of India.

2. Educational Qualification – SSC JE Eligibility

Post Essential Qualification
Junior Engineer (Civil) CPWD – B.E. / B.Tech. / Diploma in Civil Engineering from a recognized University/Institute.
Junior Engineer (Civil & Mechanical) Central Water Commission – B.E. / B.Tech. / Diploma in Civil/Mechanical Engineering from a recognized University/Institute.
Junior Engineer (Electrical) CPWD – B.E. / B.Tech. / Diploma in Electrical Engineering from a recognized University/Institute.
Junior Engineer (Civil) Department of Posts – B.E. / B.Tech. / 3 years Diploma in Civil engineering from a recognized University/Institute.
Junior Engineer (Electrical) Department of Posts- B.E. / B.Tech. / 3 years Diploma in Electrical engineering from a recognized University/Institute.
Junior Engineer (Electrical & Mechanical) MES – B.E. / B.Tech. in Electrical/Mechanical Engineering OR 3 years Diploma in Electrical/Mechanical Engineering from a recognized University/Institute and with 2 years work experience in electrical/mechanical engineering works.
Junior Engineer (Civil) MES – B.E. / B.Tech. in Civil Engineering OR 3 years Diploma in Civil Engineering from a recognized University/Institute and with 2 years work experience in civil engineering works.
Junior Engineer (QS&C) MES – B.E. / B.Tech. / 3 years Diploma in Civil engineering from a recognized University/Institute OR Passed an Intermediate examination in Building and Quantity Surveying (Sub Divisional-II) from the Institute of Surveyors (India).

3. Age Limit/Relaxation for SSC JE 2019

Post Age Limit
Junior Engineer (Civil, Electrical, and Mechanical), Central Water Commission and CPWD 32 years
Junior Engineer (Civil, Electrical & Mechanical), MES 30 years
Junior Engineer (Civil and Electrical), Department of Post and Junior Engineer (Surveying and contract), MES 18-27 years
