SBI PO Exam Pattern 2020 – Preliminary and Main Examination

State Bank of India will be conducting the examination for the recruitment of Probationary officers in the SBI. The SBI PO 2020recruitment will be made through three stages which are the Preliminary exam, Mains exam and Personal Interview. in the year 2020, the SBI made certain changes in the Main examination scheme. In the following article, we have compiled all the information about the SBI PO Exam Pattern 2020 for the Preliminary as well as Main examination. Further, we have also given complete information about the Descriptive test as well introduced by SBI in the year 2020.

SBI PO Exam Pattern 2020 – Stage wise

Stage1: Preliminary Examination

The stage 1 of the SBI PO will be marked by the Preliminary examination, the duration of which will be 1 hour. Check out the important information about the Preliminary examination –

  • The preliminary examination will be conducted for 100 marks. It will of 1 hour.
  • The exam will consist of three sections namely – English Language, Quantitative Aptitude, Reasoning Ability.
  • The examination will be conducted online.
  • All the sections will have sectional cut off beside an overall cut off.
  • There will also be negative marking which will be equal to ¼ of the marks obtained for correct answer.

Stage 2: Main Examination

The Candidates who qualify for the Preliminary examination will be able to participate in the Main examination. SBI PO 2020 main examination can be divided into two parts – Objective and Descriptive parts. The important information about the Main examination are as follows:

  • The Main examination will be conducted for 250 marks which will be 3 hours. The exam will both be in Objective and subjective in nature.
  • The exam will consist of four sections namely – English Language, Reasoning and Computer Aptitude, Data Analysis and Interpretation, General Economics and Banking Awareness.
  • The examination will be conducted online.
  • All the sections will have sectional cut off beside an overall cut off.
  • There will also be negative marking which will be equal to ¼ of the marks obtained for the correct answer.
  • The descriptive paper will be that of the English Comprehension and Language. The candidates will get 45 minutes to solve all the questions in the English Language.

Descriptive Test for SBI PO 2020

SBI has started a new test in the Main examination which goes by the name of the descriptive Test.

  • The descriptive test would be conducted on the same date as of the Main examination.
  • It will comprise of 2-3 questions of 50 marks.
  • The candidates will get 30 minutes to solve all the questions of the Descriptive test.
  • The marks obtained will be added to the final mark sheet for the calculation of the Merit of the candidates.

The syllabus for the Descriptive Test is as follows: Essay Writing, Letter Writing, Paragraph Writing, Precise Writing, Reading.
