The National Institute of Fashion Technology or more commonly known as the NIFT is a pinnacle of an institute leading the Indian education in terms of Fashion. The NIFT courses offered to a candidate are in plenty for them to choose.
There are total 16 campuses of the NIFT across the nation where the candidates can get admission. Admission to NIFT is purely based on the merit of a candidate.
For that purpose, NIFT Entrance Exam is conducted annually across India for admissions into various programmes offered under Bachelors and Masters Degree.
The Registrations for NIFT Entrance Examination have begun already and will continue till 16 December 2019. NIFT Registration can only be done in the online mode before the deadline.
Bachelor of Design (B.Des)
B.Des is an undergraduate programme which is offered to aspirants with different specialities as well. Aspirants can specialise in NIFT Fashion Designing courses such as – Fashion Design / Leather Design / Accessory Design / Textile Design / Knitwear Design / Fashion Communication. To gain admission in the course of B.Des students must qualify the entrance examination which will be conducted through two tests – GAT, CAT and if the candidate qualifies then they also have to appear for the situation test for the same. A candidate qualifying all the above-mentioned rounds will be granted admission.
Bachelor of Fashion Technology (B.F.Tech)
The Bachelor of Fashion Technology programme is offered in Apparel Production only. The admissions to this programme are also on the basis of merit only. However, a candidate has to appear for the GAT exam only if they seek admission in B.F.Tech, unlike the B.Des.
There are other courses offered at NIFT too at the Master’s level – Masters of design, Masters of fashion management, Masters of fashion technology.
Masters of Design
This programme would equip the graduates to hold key positions large fashion, design or corporate houses in the areas of Craft, Textiles, Special Needs, Publications, Media, Lifestyle Products, Graphics and User Experience Design. Candidates have to appear for the NIFT entrance exam as it is the mode of admission.
Masters of Fashion Management
This programme has made innovations in the areas of Mall Management, E-Business and Store Operations. There are new areas of study in the programme are Intellectual Property Rights, Social Media Marketing, Luxury Management, Services Marketing, e-commerce and the study of Special Product Groups have also been included in the curriculum.
NIFT Course Fee
The tuition fees for fashion designing in NIFT for all courses offered i.e. both Masters and Bachelors is same at all NIFTs. Following fee structure is applicable for both UG & PG courses at all NIFT campuses.
The following fee structure is the new structure applicable from 2018-19 session.
