Eligibility Criteria for JEE Advanced 2019 Information
Performance in JEE Main 2019
  • Candidate should be among the top 2,24,000 (including all categories) in Paper-1 of JEE Main 2019 to be eligible for JEE Advanced 2019.
  • The percentages of various categories of candidates to be shortlisted are: 27% for OBC-NCL, 15% for SC, 7.5% for ST and the remaining 50.5% is OPEN for all. Within each of these four categories, 5% horizontal reservation is available for PwD candidates.
Age limit For General and OBC

  • Age should not be more than 24 years
  • Candidates must have born after 1st October 1994

For ST/SC/PWD

  • 5 Years of Age Relaxation i.e Age should not be more than 29 years
  • Must have born after 1st October 1989
Year in which appeared for class 12th/Diploma/Other Equivalent Exam The candidate should have appeared in class 12 board exam for the first time either in 2018 or 2019.

In case the board had declared the result for the academic year 2017-18 after June 2018, then the candidate of that board will also be considered eligible. However, in cases where the board had declared the result before June 2018 but the candidate’s result was withheld, such candidates would not be eligible for the test.

Diploma students passed or are in the final year of their degree

Number of Subjects in Qualification Examination Candidates should have studied at least 5 subjects corresponding Class 12 Exam or Diploma/Degree Course in any other equivalent exam
Number of Attempts 2 Times in consecutive years: Candidates have only 2 chances to appear for JEE Advanced 2018 Exam in Consecutive years
Marks Required in Class 12th Exam As announced by the CBSE regarding Percentage and Eligibility marks criteria, Candidates should score more than 75% marks or should be In Top 20 percentile in respective board
Earlier Admission in IITs A candidate should NOT have been admitted in an IIT irrespective of whether or not he/she continued in the program OR accepted an IIT seat by reporting at a reporting centre in the past.

Candidates whose admission at IITs was cancelled after joining any IIT are also NOT eligible to appear in JEE Advanced 2019.
