Delhi University has released two cut-offs already, and the classes will begin on 20th July. For the freshers, on the very first day of the college Orientation Day Program will be organized. This is a big day for all of us. Getting into a college is a very special event for all of us. This day marks the beginning of the new journey, college life.
I know that you must be feeling very nervous about the day. I still remember how I felt. I woke up before everyone in the home, which usually does not happens. Like everyone, I had started planning for the first day as soon as I got admission. My request to everyone who is reading this, please do not miss Orientation Day. It happens only once, you can not afford to miss it.
What will happen on Orientation Day?
It is a brief introduction to your college and faculty. The principal will deliver a speech and introduce the staff. You will be informed about the facilities of the college and it’s history too. Faculty of all the departments will give a short insight. You’ll be told about the clubs and societies of the college. You may get to know all of these in the college prospectus also, but I do not want you to miss the experience of Orientation Day.
Dressing up for Orientation Day
I know that you are excited about “no more boring uniforms”. But, wait. On your first day, do not wear your ‘best dress’, but wear something very comfortable as the weather is going to be hot and humid. And I’m sure you do not want to feel uncomfortable and sweaty on this special day. And just carry a notebook and pen, and do not forget to take the fee confirmation paper with you, or else you won’t be allowed to enter.
Is Orientation Day that much important?
No, it is not “that” important, as there are many students who are unable to secure admissions in the first to third cut-offs and start their classes after some days. But, if you are lucky enough to get admission sooner and get the invitation for Orientation Program, then what’s the problem in attending it? After attending, you may explore the college, grounds, library, canteen etcetera, as this is the place where you are going to spend next 3-4 years of your life.
Also, this is the day when you will meet your new classmates, professors, and seniors. And, who knows, maybe you will end up with your future best friends.
College life is considered to be the best part of life, but I believe that it all depends upon us. Finally, you are in college, where you will get a lot of opportunities, otherwise, create new opportunities for yourself. Discover everything. Study very hard and prove yourself. There will be distractions, but it is you, who will be deciding the priority. The college will teach lessons about life, and Orientation Day is the first step towards all these experiences.
All the best freshers!
