IBPS RRB Selection Procedure for 2018

There are few differences between IBPS RRB Office Assistant Selection Procedure and the selection procedure for officers. For example, in the IBPS RRB officer scale I selection procedure there are three stages -prelims, mains, and an interview. On the other hand, if you are applying for IBPS RRB office assistant exam, you would only have to appear for the prelims and mains only. The selection procedure followed for the recruitment of Officers (Scale-I) and Office Assistants (Multipurpose) by the IBPS RRB 2018 Examination authorities is as follows:

Online Preliminary Examination

This exam will carry a total of 80 marks, comprising of 2 sections namely Reasoning and Quantitative Aptitude. Candidates are required to score at least the cutoff marks for qualification to the next round, i.e. Online Mains Exam.

Online Mains Examination

This stage of the IBPS RRB exam will be a total of 200 marks, consisting of 5 sections – Reasoning, Numerical ability, General Awareness, Computer knowledge, Hindi and English Language. Officer Assistant posts will be provisionally filled based on the marks obtained in this stage. Scale-I officer aspirants will be called for an interview if they qualify this stage.

IBPS RRB 2018 Syllabus

Those who have applied for Officers (Scale-II and Scale III) posts will be selected through a different procedure:

Single Online Examination

This paper will be of 200 marks in which candidates need to score the cutoff to progress to the round of interviews.


All candidates applying for Officers post should sit for a personal interview. A total of 100 marks is allotted for the interview of Scale-I, II, III aspirants only. It will be conducted by the Nodal regional rural banks and the minimum qualifying marks set by them is 40%.

Document verification and ultimate allotment

The provisional allotment of candidates shall be made after verifying the documents and eligibility. Marks in online exam and interview will be taken into consideration while filling the vacancies in various rural banks.
