Central Teaching Eligibility Test (CTET 2018)
Central Teaching Eligibility Test (CTET) is a national-level standardized entrance exam organized and conducted once every year by the Central Board Of Secondary Education (CBSE) in accordance with the guidelines framed by the National Council for Teaching Education(NCTE) to determine the eligibility of the candidates for appointment to the post of teachers for classes I to VIII in any of the Central Government schools and Government Schools of those states that do not conduct TET as is stated in clause(n) of section 2 of the RTE Act. The exam organized separately for primary section, that is, from class I to VIII, and for the elementary section, that is, from VI to VIII, is conducted in various centers across the country to ensure standardized quality in teaching.

Eligibility Requirements
(I) For Primary Section
Any of the following conditions must be met with to be eligible for application to the primary section of CTET:
- The candidate must have passed 12th grade or its equivalent with a minimum aggregate score of 50% and must have passed or must be appearing for the final year examination of 2-year Diploma in Elementary Education OR
- The candidate must have passed 12th grade or its equivalent with a minimum aggregate score of 45% and must have passed or must be appearing for the final year examination of 2-year Diploma in Elementary Education in accordance with the NCTE Regulations, 2002 OR
- The candidate must have passed 12th grade or its equivalent with a minimum aggregate score of 50% and must have passed or must be appearing for the final year examination of 4-year Bachelor of Elementary Education OR
- The candidate must have passed 12th grade or its equivalent with a minimum aggregate score of 50% and must have passed or must be appearing for the final year examination of 2-year Diploma in Education(Special Education) OR
- The candidate must be a graduate and must have passed or must be appearing for the final year examination of 2-year Diploma in Elementary Education.
(II) For Elementary Section
Any of the following conditions must be met with to be eligible for application to the primary section of CTET:
- The candidate must be a graduate and must have passed or must be appearing for the final year examination of 2-year Diploma in Elementary Education OR
- The candidate must have passed graduation with a minimum aggregate score of 50% and must have passed or must be appearing for the final year examination of Bachelor in Education OR
- The candidate must have passed graduation with a minimum aggregate score of 45% and must have passed or must be appearing for the final year examination of 2-year Diploma in Elementary Education in accordance with the NCTE Regulations issued from time to time OR
- The candidate must have passed 12th grade or its equivalent with a minimum aggregate score of 50% and must have passed or must be appearing for the final year examination of 4-year Bachelor of Elementary Education OR
- The candidate must have passed 12th grade or its equivalent with a minimum aggregate score of 50% and must have passed or must be appearing for the final year examination of 4-year B.A/B.Sc.Ed or B.A.Ed/B.Sc.Ed OR
- The candidate must have passed graduation with a minimum aggregate score of 50% and must have passed or must be appearing for the final year examination of Bachelor in Education(Special Education) OR
- The candidate must be pursuing any of the teacher education courses specified in the NCTE Notification.

- Scanned copy of the candidate’s recent photograph in JPG/JPEG format with size ranging from 10KB to 100KB(3.5cm*4.5cm)
- Scanned copy of the candidate’s signature in JPG/JPEG format with size ranging from 3KB to 30KB(3.5cm*1.5cm)
How to Apply
The online application form is made available on the official website from 1st August 2018. Log on to the official website and click “Apply Online”. Fill in the required details including your name, date of birth, gender, state, your parents’names, educational details, your preferred choice of examination centers and question paper medium, and your address for contact among many others and note down your Registration Number. Upload the above-stated documents in the prescribed format and size. Pay the required examination fees as is given in the following table by e-challan/Credit card /Debit card:

Admit Cards
Admit Cards carrying the Examination Roll Number and Examination Center for the successfully registered candidates will be made available on the official website by 20th August 2018. Download and bring the hard copy of the Admit card to the examination centre.

Exam Pattern and Syllabus
CTET is a centralized exam spanning two and a half hours conducted separately for primary and elementary sections with each section consisting of 150 Multiple Choice Questions with a maximum score of 150 marks. Each right answer will be given 1 mark. There will be no penalty for the wrong answers. The section-wise detailed pattern of the exam is as follows:

Results and Cut-off
Results of CTET 2018 will be published on the official website tentatively by 28th October 2018. The minimum score required to have a pass in the exam is 60%. The score will be valid for seven years.
