CMAT Exam Pattern – CMAT 2018


CMAT is an annually organized competitive test which focuses on management. This year the exam would be conducted under the supervision of the National Test Agency – NTA. The CMAT exam pattern comprises of 4 different sections in the exam –¬†Logical Reasoning, Language Comprehension, Quantitative Techniques & Data Interpretation and General Awareness.

The CMAT exam will be conducted in online mode only on 28 January 2019. So, here is the detailed CMAT Exam Pattern for the candidates to follow. By following the CMAT Pattern candidates can prepare for the exam easily.

CMAT Exam Pattern

CMAT exam is conducted in online mode and the duration of the exam is 3 hours or 180 minutes. Here are some of the key points of the CMAT exam Pattern.

  • The total number of questions is 100.
  • Each of the 4 section has 25 questions
  • Four options are given for each question and the candidates have to select one right option.
  • 4 marks for each question
  • CMAT Total Marks – 400
  • The time duration of the entrance exam is 180 minutes.
  • No section-wise time limit.
  • Also, there is a negative marking of one mark for each incorrect answer
  • Candidates can toggle between different sections of the exam freely as there is no section-wise time limit
  • There is no negative marking for an unanswered question
  • Candidates will give the test on a computer
  • Candidates will e provided with a rough paper for calculations
  • Candidates can only calculate on that rough paper provided by the authorities
  • No breaks are allowed during the test

CMAT Marking Scheme

The CMAT Marking scheme is fairly simple to understand. There are total 100 questions in the exam and each question is of 4 marks, which makes the CMAT total score to 400. candidates, keep in mind that there is CMAT negative marking in the examination, which means that one mark will be deducted for each incorrect answer.

CMAT Trial Test

CMAT conducts a trial test for the candidates to get a hold of the method in which the exam would be conducted. This test will be made available on their portal only. NTA is yet to announce the official dates for this CMAT mock test. However, it is highly recommended that candidates do take this test in order to get familiar with the process and to practice for the CMAT.

It is advised that candidates do not speculate in this CMAT exam as there are chances that you might guess wrong and lose a mark. Also, the CMAT pattern in the question paper is neither too difficult nor easy. Questions asked in the exam are of intermediate level. However, it has been noticed that the options given are very similar to each other, which makes it tricky for the candidates.
