CLAT Syllabus – CLAT or Common Law Admission Test is an All India law Admission test held in the country for Undergraduate and postgraduate entrance test for the law. The National Law University Odisha, Cuttack will be the CLAT 2019 exam organizing body. CLAT is the path to reach and study at the various recognized government and private law colleges in India.
The CLAT 2019 syllabus for LLB and LLM will be in accordance with the previous year of studies. The syllabus for LL.B entrance will be from the basic English, logical reasoning and aptitude, etc. While the syllabus for LL.M entrance will have topics from their undergraduate LL.B course study. The CLAT conducting authorities will be releasing the CLAT syllabus for 2019 exam tentatively in the month of December 2018.

CLAT Syllabus
The NLUO will be declaring the CLAT UG and CLAT PG results soon. It is expected that the CLAT syllabus for 2019 will remain same as that of the previous year. The important topics expected to be there in the CLAT 2019 exam are:
CLAT UG Syllabus
Syllabus for the UG program will cover questions from General Knowledge & Current Affairs, Legal Aptitude, English, Mathematics, Logical Reasoning. The GK and Legal Aptitude section will carry the maximum weightage in the law entrance exam.
General Knowledge & Current Affairs
This section will include questions from General Knowledge and Current Affairs. The questions from GK will test the static knowledge of candidates from the prominent aspects of the national and international level.

- Outline of Indian Economy
- National Income of India
- Indian Tax Structure
- Major Industries in India
- Banking & Finance
As per last year paper: There were approx 14-15 static GK questions and 25-26 questions from Current Affairs.
Legal Aptitude
This section will test candidate ability and interest towards understanding & solving issues of legal nature. the type of question asked in this part is that the number of propositions will be given and the candidates will have to analyze the truthfulness of the proposition and assume the most suitable answer.

As per last year paper: There were a total of 10 Legal Knowledge questions based on the Indian Constitution.
English and Comprehension
The CLAT english syllabus is formulated to test the grammatical understanding of candidates. The section will have questions from sentence corrections, jumbled sentences, idioms, and phrases etc. There will be a passage of approx. 300 – 400 words. The questions will be passage based.

- Subject-Verb Agreement
- Noun
- Pronoun
- Adjective and Determinants
- Adverb
- Active Passive Voice
Last year paper analysis: A Reading Comprehension and questions were on grammar, vocabulary and cloze test.
Logical reasoning
The logical reasoning section checks a candidate’s ability to analyze patterns and arguments. It will include questions on syllogisms, logical sequences, analogies, etc. Understand and analyze various conditions set in questions and deduce correct conclusions.

- Statement Conclusions Derivation of Conclusions
- Cause & Effect Reasoning
- Statements Assumptions and Statement Arguments
The section had three puzzles of which one was in the category of very tough questions in the last year CLAT exam.
Mathematics(Numerical Ability)
CLAT Mathematics Syllabus- in this section, candidates will be asked to answer questions based on class 10 Mathematics syllabus (elementary mathematics). It tests candidate’s accuracy with numbers and calculations.

CLAT 2018 Paper Analysis: The topics covered from the Mathematics section were Percentage, Profit and Loss, Algebra, Geometry etc.
CLAT LLM Syllabus
Constitutional Law and Jurisprudence will both have equal weightage of 50marks each in the question paper. The rest of the questions will be from different topics like Criminal law, International Law, etc.
- Constitutional Law will consist of various rules, practices, and doctrines that govern the functioning of a modern state and other political communities.
- Jurisprudence can be referred to as the “philosophy of law”. It is classified into three branches – analytical, and theoretical, and sociological.
- The Tort Law is a recent common law development in India based on codifying statutes even the statutes related to damages.
- Contract is a piece of legal document which is a mutual agreement made by two or more parties, enforceable by law. Important decisions taken by Supreme Court and High Court in relation to modern day commercial activities form a very crucial part of this subject.
- Criminal Law, commonly known as Penal Law is aimed at regulation of Social code of conduct and prohibition of any antisocial activity that poses a threat to the safety, property, health, and moral welfare of citizens.
- International Law will focus on the set of legal guidelines and contracts that govern the relations between two states/nations.

- Study Material & Books: Buy the books prescribed by the seniors or teachers/tutors from the market and collect the related study material of current affairs, general knowledge, general science, and reasoning.
- CLAT Sample Papers: The best way to practice is to solve sample papers. One should practice attempting the maximum questions within the given time limit.
- Notes Preparation: Prepare notes as per the syllabus to review them later at near the examination time.
