This section will include questions from General Knowledge and Current Affairs. The questions from GK will test the static knowledge of candidates from the prominent aspects of national and international level.

CLAT LLM Syllabus

Constitutional Law and Jurisprudence will both have equal weightage of 50marks each in the question paper. The rest of the questions will be from different topics like Criminal law, International Law, etc.

  1. Constitutional Law will consist of various rules, practices, and doctrines that govern the functioning of a modern state and other political communities.
  2. Jurisprudence can be referred to as the “philosophy of law”. It is classified into three branches – analytical, and theoretical, and sociological.
  3. The Tort Law is a recent common law development in India based on codifying statutes even the statutes related to damages.
  4. Contract is a piece of legal document which is a mutual agreement made by two or more parties, enforceable by law. Important decisions taken by Supreme Court and High Court in relation to modern day commercial activities form a very crucial part of this subject.
  5. Criminal Law, also known as Penal Law is aimed at regulation of Social code of conduct and prohibition of any antisocial activity that poses a threat to the safety, property, health, and moral welfare of citizens. Significant topics in principles of criminal liability(“guilty mind” in Criminal Law) should be given special attention.
  6. International Law as a subject is focused on the set of legal guidelines and contracts that govern the relations between two states/nations.
