CAT Exam Eligibility Criteria – CAT 2018

CAT is a country level entrance examination conducted by IIM Calcutta for admission into Management courses offered in more than 120 institutions across the country. The governing body prescribes CAT exam eligibility criteria for the students, candidates meeting the eligibility criteria can fill the form and appear for the examination.

The online registration forms CAT exam begun on 8 August 2018 and concluded on 26 Septemeber 2018. As per the schedule released by IIM Calcutta, the exam is scheduled on 26 November 2018 in the online mode only and will be conducted in almost every major city in India.

Here are the CAT exam Eligibility Criteria the candidates must fulfil to be able to fill the CAT entrance online form. Please note that candidates unable to meet the CAT examination will not e able to appear for the examination.

Highlights of CAT Exam Eligibility Criteria 2018

  • Applicants should hold a bachelor’s degree or equivalent with a minimum of 50% or equivalent CGPA by any recognised university.
  • For reserved category candidates, like Scheduled Caste (SC), Scheduled Tribe (ST) and candidates with Disability (PWD), the minimum percentage to be secured in Bachelor’s Degree is 45% or equivalent CGPA.
  • Candidates in the final year of their degree or the candidates awaiting their results are eligible to apply for the exam.

Candidates must fulfil any one of the following conditions to be eligible for the exam:

  1. Bachelor’s Degree with prescribed percentage of marks or
  2. Professional Degree with prescribed percentage of marks Or
  3. In the final year of Bachelor’s Degree with prescribed marks percentage

There is no age limit for a candidate to appear for the CAT Examination.

There are three categories which fall under the PWD category as per the guidelines for the CAT Eligibility Criteria.

  • Low vision blindness
  • Hearing impairment and
  • Locomotor disability/cerebral palsy

`Please note that only the eligible candidates will be considered for admissions in any of the colleges participating in the CAT exam.

CAT Exam is usually scheduled at the end of the year. so, this time CAT 2018 is also dated 25 November 2018. All the important related dates are as following:

As per the official notification by IIM Calcutta for Common Admission Test in 2018 – 2019, the CAT Exam will be conducted on 25 November 2018. Notification was released on 29 July and CAT aspirants can fill application form till 25 September 2018.
