Hostel life is a major part of college life. It is the place where bonds are made, secrets shared, new things experienced and craziness ensued. It is said that a person who hasn’t lived in hostel even once in his/her life hasn’t really lived. Hostel teaches us many things such as time-management, friendship, sharing, compassion among many other things. Most of all, it teaches us to be social. No one comes out from living in a hostel without friends. It is our home away from home where we make our own family and meet different types of people or shall I say, different types of roommates.
Types of Roommates
Roommates are an extensive part of hostel life. They are the ones who will be in your thick and thin throughout the year. They can either make your life heaven or a living hell.
These extroverts will talk non-stop without any real topic. They are the ones to make friends with everyone first. You might feel like killing them at times but they are the sweetest of the lot. These people are the lifesavers of introverts.
If you end up with these sarcastic people, you might not want to get on their bad side. Their replies will send your humiliation soaring and your eyes pouring. It is tough to be with them but once you become friends with them, they will always have your back. Noone can bully you when you are with them.
If you are the studious type and you have one of this kind in your room, you might want to change your room. Life is like a vacation for these people. They will not only party themselves all the time but force everyone around them to party too. They will bring the adventure and fun into your life.
They will most likely be found hiding behind a book, laptop or phones. It is tough to keep up a conversation with them as they will give you apt replies to your questions and go back to being silent. But they are also the most loyal friends. They are the most helpful and knowledgeable of the lot
They will drive you nuts with their obsessive-compulsive disorder. They will make you do everything twice as once is just not enough for them. You will always have to be careful as they might lash out at the smallest of things. They don’t know the word ‘adjusting’ and will always make you adjust. While living with them might seem a nightmare, it will prepare you for struggles of life.
A Word Of Advice
No matter how your roommate is, how your college and hostel life is spent depends on you. Never take any ill-treatment from anyone. Always be helpful and loyal to your friends. Stay away from fights and party once in a while as you meet different types of roommates throughout college life.
